Beneath a deep, moody blue sky, a herd of wild horses gathers in a quiet pool of light. There is a sense of stillness and anticipation, as though the horses are waiting for the darkness to pass and a new day to begin.
Part of my Postcards from the Wild Horse collection, this work draws on my time at Return to Freedom, a wild horse sanctuary in California. It reflects the quiet strength of the herd and the instinctive connection that allows these animals to find their place in an uncertain world.
Artwork Details:
Original mixed-media painting
Oil and wax on board
24 × 24 × 4.5 cm
Deep dark brown wood float frame
An early release from the collection, Waiting for Light will be exhibited at the Dutch Equine Art Fair in Amsterdam.
